Creation and Art

by Ken on September 9, 2011

Most of us are artists. I believe it is an innate part of being human.

What gets us out of bed in the morning is a passion to create anything that communicates; which adds a bit of beauty, grace and elegance to Life.

We express ourselves in countless ways. For me its writing music and songs, working the keys and strings of my instruments, making a perfect cross wind landing on a blustery day. I am also fortunate to include my avocation and profession, designing and engineering some pretty nice places, to my artistic activities.   To others it is a scored touchdown, their pottery, a poem…… Art can be seen, at times, in how some folks live their lives.  They live a grace and beauty that can move any who really look. Any mode we choose is a canvas upon which we create.

Few of us can live, fully, unless we are creating. It’s the basis of what we are, we do and we have – as sentient beings. Our creations become true wealth and basis of economic betterment. Economics may appear to be the boring nuts and bolts of life.  But really, it’s but a manifestation and management of our creative energies.

Art is a word which summarizes the quality of communication. The key, in the creation of any artistic endeavor, is, first and foremost, to communicate. That is prime and any attempts at perfection of that communication should be done only after the communication is in place . Communicate first, by what means we can and is available, and then make the communication perfect (or as close an approach as we dare).

And that is Art.

Years of life and practice  move us, asymptotically, towards the more perfect communication – the better art. And we and others know it as we see it. It communicates directly to the soul.

And, if on our game, each of us achieves to the fullest extent of our capabilities.

Regardless of my success, I try to keep that my own intention.

I think I can live with that.
