Happy Birthday to Kim

by Ken on August 28, 2011

It is a precious circumstance that I share my life with a superlative being.  I did not know or suspect that such a beautiful, marvelous, extraordinary, phenomenal,  and remarkable person might exist.
She is my best friend, my boundless confidant, my supporter, my lover – the person with whom I share nearly every waking hour without the hint of contest or dispute.
She is being of the highest morals, a natural sense of ethics (which at times puts me to shame) who has her own mind and thinks outside the lines of customary ways. Yet she grants me the right to do the same, to be the maverick that I am without a hint of judgement or consternation.
I have never loved one so much. Every day is a test of my ability to appreciate fully; for any that pass during which I fail to or forget  to cherish and treasure her extraordinary nature proves a day that I have not fully lived.
Kimberly is my jewel. She is my medallion, my treasure, my pearl of life.  It is through her and and by her virtue that all that I see around me prevails.
Today is her birthday.  Though we endeavor and  labor through the minor struggles of our times, and though our bank accounts do not fill as quickly as they once did, I offer her these words of my undying love, my faith and my devotion. And with them, a simple card and a small flower from our own garden. And a simple breakfast – which will delight her.
And that delight will prove once again how lucky I am.
Happy Birthday.

It is a precious circumstance that I share my life with a unique, incomparable and precious being.  I did not suspect that such a person could exist.

Kim, my wife, is such a person.

She is my best friend, my boundless confidant, my supporter, my lover – the person with whom I share nearly every waking hour without the hint of contest or dispute.

She is a being of the highest morals, a natural sense of ethics (which at times puts mine to shame) who has her own mind and thinks outside the lines of customary ways. Yet she grants me the right to do the same, to be the maverick that I am without a hint of judgement or consternation.

I have developed a deep love. Every day is a test of my ability to appreciate — fully;  for any days that pass during which I fail to or forget  to cherish and treasure her extraordinary nature proves a day that I have not fully lived.

Kimberly is my jewel. She is my medallion, my treasure, my pearl of life.  It is through her and by her virtue that all that I see around me prevails.

Today is her birthday.

As we endeavor the struggles of our times we find our wealth is measured, more truly, in simple yet priceless ways. In that spirit I offer a simple card and a small flower from our own garden and these words of my undying love, my faith and my devotion. And we’ll share a simple breakfast out on the town – which I know will delight her.

And that delight in such simple things will prove once again how lucky I am. It is wealth that is immeasurable.

Happy Birthday, Kim. I love you.
